Dedicates Award To The People Of Emohua Local Government Area
As Emeka Woke, Paul Wonodi and Sam Ogeh Join Dr. Lloyd To Receive Award
The Chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, was honoured on Saturday with an award of excellence in leadership and governance as the best performing local government chairman of the year 2023 in infrastructure development and security, in recognition of the unprecedented infrastructure revolution and improved security witnessed across Emohua local government area under his watch.
Presenting the award to the Emohua council boss at the maiden edition of the Excel Africa Summit and Honors (TEASH) held at Novotel Port Harcourt on Saturday, the convener of the ceremony and principal partner of the TEASH Award, Raj Ovundah Oti noted the change of narrative in Emohua local government area in security and infrastructure development occasioned by the purposeful and visionary leadership of Dr. Chidi Lloyd within two years of his administration.
He said the Emohua council chairman came in first among four local government council chairmen nominated in the same category, according to an online poll conducted by the organization after a careful examination of the achievements of local government council chairmen across Rivers State, which gave room for their nominations in different categories.
Raj Ovundah said the platform is a Pan-African brand created to highlight, honour, and promote incredible potential in the private and public sectors and to encourage effective leadership and service delivery for the overall development of the continent, with special attention to the Rivers and the Nigeria Delta.
Some of the categories for the Excel Africa Summit and Honors include:

2. Social Impact and Sustainability
3. Leadership and Governance
4. Technology and Digital Transformation
5. Education and Skills Development
6. Healthcare and Wellness
In his remarks, the recipient and chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, commended the award organisers for the transparent process that led to his emergence, stressing that he made himself available for the award presentation because of the transparency of the voting process.
The council chairman, while dedicating the award to the people of Emohua local government area, noted that the new narrative in the local government area wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the people in his administration.
He said the award is an indication that his administration’s developmental strides within the past two years were already public knowledge and promised to sustain the infrastructure revolution and improved security witnessed across the local government area till the end of his tenure, with the support of the people.
The council chairman, who was joined at the award ceremony by the immediate past chief of staff of Rivers State Government House and serving commissioner for special projects, Chief Engr Emeka Woke; the immediate past representative of Emohua State Constituency in the State Assembly, Hon Samuel Ogeh; and the erstwhile chairman of the local government area and leader of the PDP caucus, Eze Paul Wonodi, further commended the leaders of the local government area, the vice chairman of the council, the leader and members of the local government legislative assembly, principal officers, and appointees of the local government council for their resultful support of the policies and programs of his administration.
He attributed his emergence as the best-performing local government chairman of 2023 to the teamwork amongst all critical stakeholders and principal officers of Emohua local government, while calling for a sustained synergy between the executive and the legislative arm of the local government council.
Dr. Lloyd was accompanied to the award ceremony by his deputy, Hon. Edna Nyeche Addis; the leader, Hon. Love Nyenke; members of the Emohua legislative assembly; the secretary of the council, Chief Vincent Chukwu; and members of the executive council, as well as principal officers and appointees of the local government.
Other local government chairmen who emerged victorious in different categories of the award include the chairmen of Eleme and Degema LGAs, Chief Obarilomate Ollor, and Hon. Michael John Williams, respectively, amongst other very distinguished personalities and corporate organizations who were honoured in different categories.
The O.B. Lulu Briggs Foundation also received a special award in recognition of its humanitarian services across Africa, which was presented by the immediate past chief of staff and serving commissioner for special projects, Engr Emeka Woke, on behalf of the organisers of the TEASH Awards.
The ceremony also featured comedy by one of Nigeria’s finest comedians, Danny Spry, and other talented Port Harcourt-based creative entertainers.
Dr. Lloyd later led members of his entourage to a brief reception at Michael’s Garden, an extension of Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, where the council chairman expressed gratitude to everyone who joined him to receive the award.
